For our July 4th celebration this year I will be serving some of my favorite gluten free recipes (pictured above/listed below). We will have a small gathering at our house with two other families, then we’ll hike up Mount Sanitas to watch the fireworks show.
My younger son is begging us to take him up to the mountains for July 4th. However, my older son has a bunch of baseball practices prior to the All Star District Tournament, and these practices ... read more →

I’m absolutely thrilled that Lillian of Lillian’s Test Kitchen, made this video of my Double Chocolate Cherry Cookies. Lillian, a professional actress and the best vlogger I know, creates videos of her favorite gluten free recipes –what could be better for those on a gluten free diet?
In this video Lillian demonstrates in her own inimitable, wacky way, how to make gluten free cookies from The Gluten-Free Almond Flour Cookbook. For more great video recipes make sure to head over ... read more →

Summer is definitely here and our house is the place to be. The neighborhood boys congregate on our trampoline –with the sprinklers aimed at it for a good cool down and a great deal of healthy fun.
With all of this activity I keep the food flowing morning, noon and night. From the time they arrive until dinner (sometimes a bunch of them stay for the evening meal too) I am setting out munchies –snacks, lunch, etc. They really are a ... read more →

Boulder is the Mount Olympus of the health food industry, nirvana when it comes to gluten free food products, and, Bon Appetit recently named Boulder the “Foodiest Town” in America.
When dining out in Boulder, I go to the places I know and trust. Both Matthew Jensen’s Radda, and Kimball Musk’s Kitchen, are comfortable places that serve pure, wholesome, delicious food, making it easy to adhere to the gluten free diet. In Summit County, where we spend many winter weekends (think ... read more →

I was working my way through the Cook’s Illustrated website the other night and came across an amazing recipe for Triple Chocolate Espresso Brownies. As soon as I laid eyes on that recipe I knew I had to create a high protein, gluten free version. While my husband enjoys all of my gluten free chocolate recipes, this is his fave. He even left a special love note on the fridge for me late last night after sampling them.
Of course this ... read more →

These gluten free Chocolate Almond Joy Bars were inspired by Carrie of GingerLemonGirl.com who wrote a recipe for Almond Joy Impossible Pie. Who doesn’t like the combination of chocolate, almonds and coconut in the form of a high protein, gluten free treat?
I don’t generally discuss nutrition because I assume most people who find this site know that that my recipes are different than most other gluten free offerings. Ingredients such as almond flour and coconut flour do not compare to ... read more →

Today I’m giving away a copy of the book Go Dairy Free by Alisa Fleming, founder of godairyfree.org.
Alisa is a fabulously successful self-published author, blogger and business woman who presents at conferences all over the country; she will actually be speaking at one here in Boulder later this month.
I would say that Go Dairy Free: The Guide and Cookbook for Milk Allergies, Lactose Intolerance, and Casein-Free Living is a veritable bible for those with dairy allergies; it will teach ... read more →

This high protein, dairy free Chocolate Mousse is made with anti-oxidant rich dark chocolate and contains no dairy products –a double win. I’ve also used coconut palm sugar rather than agave to sweeten it. Many people do not like agave nectar, believing it is an overly processed sweetener (the agave nectar I use is pure and organic). I don’t mind agave, though I thought the palm sugar would be a nice alternative sweetener for those that do.

There’s nothing like baked fruit desserts in summer. With seasonal, fresh, luscious ingredients, this gluten free Apple Blackberry Crisp is the perfect healthy and scrumptious, warm weather delight. When finished off with a high protein almond flour topping, baked treats such as this are superfood in the form of dessert. Now what’s better than that?
Our summer started last Thursday when the boys finished school, and we are having an excellent time thus far. Our house has been the setting for ... read more →

I’m thrilled about the items I’m giving away today from More Than Alive. Why? These are the exact type of ingredients I stock in my pantry. Raw almonds? A no brainer. Cashews? We use those to make vegan nut milks and ice cream. And, organic raw cacao powder is perfect for those Double Chocolate Cherry Cookies. Organic rooibos tea anyone? We drink that hot or on ice all year round.
