Gluten-free Cranberry Orange Scones are made with a super healthy base of almond flour, eggs, and honey. They’re studded with antioxidant rich dried cranberries and chocolate chips. Feel free to use any type of chocolate chip that your heart desires in these grain-free scones. I’ve made them with dark, milk, and white chocolate chips and they’re incredible each way.
The orange zest in these scones adds an amazing flavor. I often use extra and sprinkle it on top. I love the flavor of orange zest and can’t get enough of it. In addition to flavor, orange zest contains nutrients that boost your immune system to help fight off colds and flu.

The general idea for these scones came from Joy the Baker. I made quite a few changes until I had created an entirely new scone recipe that is grain-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free!
Here are some of my other easy gluten-free scones recipes for you!

Thanks for all your recipes – Going to try this version of your scone recipe – I have been using your choc chip scone recipe from your Gluten free almond flour cook book for years – wondering why all your new recipes have no oil ? have been happily riffing on your old recipe for years (turmeric ginger date and walnut scones is my fave modification) – new health concerns have lead me to more recipe googling ( your book really helped when I felt overwhelmed when it became clear my son was gluten intolerant ) would love you to publish a specific carbohydrate diet recipe book …..

Rachel, thanks for your wonderful comment. As the years have passed, I’ve found myself working to further simplify my recipes, anytime I can drop an ingredient in general I will. For almond flour recipes, baking without oil is easy, since almonds have so much fat (oil).

Made these yesterday and my family loved them. Made with agave then made an orange glaEbusing swerve powdered sugar and orange zest. Added dark choc chips to some and toasted walnuts to others. Love these scones and can’t wait to try other variations.

Can I make these ahead and freeze them? I’m hosting a large brunch and then 4 hours later a Luau dinner for 75- Bridal shower and engagement party!
I was going to double your recipe and then thrown the finished product in the freezer for about 10 days.
Any special tricks for thawing them?
Do you serve them at room temperature?
sorry for so many questions- I am a beginner cook who can’t taste what she cooks due to food allergies?
Elana says
Susie, I haven’t tried doubling this recipe or freezing these so not sure if that will work. What are your food allergies?
