Hi M,
I have used Borax, availabe in my grocery store for whitening. I add 1/2 to 1 c. and let the load soak overnight. I have used hydrogen peroxide for removing blood stains, I just spray it right on the stain and it works great. I haven't used it for whitening an entire load though.

Good Luck!
Karen

Does anyone have a recommendation for a safe alternative for bleach? I have some white bathroom mats that need whitening. I've read that hydrogen peroxide can be used, but can't find specific instructions that look reliable. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!
