Hi Elana!!! I am enjoying your recipes immensely and giving everyone your site because they are also enjoying all the goodies I am making.

Can you tell me if arrowroot powder is the same as arrowroot flour?
    Thank you!!

    Hi Rosie,

I use arrowroot powder that I purchase from this website:

I think arrowroot flour is the same thing, however, I'm not certain. Maybe someone else can weigh in on this thread...

Thank you, Elana...When I went to the site the description start with "Arrowroot flour, ....." so I will assume it is the same.
Also, I went ahead and made the sandwich bread with the arrowroot flour I had, and it came out delicious!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your yummy recipes.
Elana, can you explain to me, again, why you have chosen to use coconut and almond flours? I know you have many allergies, besides, gluten. But these flours are higher in fat...although a good fat...and I can't stop at one or two pieces...so I am concerned about the fat and calories. Can you "ease" my mind??:>

    Hi Rosie,

IMHO, coconut flour and almond flour are the tastiest, healthiest gluten-free flours. I'm not one to count calories or worry about fats (especially good fats), however, I do understand your concerns as no matter how healthy a food is, if overeaten, ill health will result.

    Take Care,
    Elana

I just made the Gluten-free bread 2.0. I didn't have arrowroot so I substituted tapioca flour. Came out just delightful. Is this an acceptable swap? Anything particularly better about arrowroot?

Yes, according to Carol Fenster (author of many GF recipe books) you can substitute tapioca flour for arrowroot. Arrowroot tends to be a bit more expensive than tapioca and around where I live I can buy tapioca in bulk directly from the local 'health food store'. And since neither are from grain sources using either sticks with the grain-free mode! schpinkle
