Hi,
when I researched ingredients I saw that tropical traditions coconut flour was crossed out and aloha nu is the preferred one. I need to order again (I had tropical traditions) is the aloha nu better in some way?
I also need to order more almond flour. I had honeyville, but I see benefit your life is the top pick-is it better in some way? Thank you, Ellen

Hi,
I am ready to order more coconut flour and almond flour. No one has responded to this, are all the brands pretty much the same? No one has favorites? I was not unhappy with the tropical traditions coconut flour, but when I saw it crossed out and aloha nu written instead it made me wonder if maybe I was missing something. What kinds do you all use? TIA, EllenPosted 1 year ago # -
I just use whatever coconut flour I find at the store. As for almond flour/meal, I use the Trader Joe's brand. They are really cheap and it doesn't have the overpowering almond flavor.

I have bought whatever coconut flour is at the store. (I think I have used Bob's Red Mill) I prefer Honeyville almond flour for all of elana's recipes. I buy 25 pounds at a time.

I have been buying almond flour from benefit your life...it works good in all the recipes. I'm running out also, and was thinking about trying the honeywell because it was cheaper....however.....I think I know what the difference is. Benefit your life advertises as "organic" and honeywell does not. Although Benefit your Life does not read organic on the label, the website describes it as so. I've had communication with the owner of benefit your life concerning a different situation, and she seems very trustworthy. So I'm thinking I'll stick with the Benefit Your Life brand for almond flour. As for the coconut flour, I bought some about 6 months ago from Nutsonline, and it's still in my frige. Didn't use it yet...wondering if it's still good....have 3 bags....hate to throw it out. Does anyone know if it's still good?

In an attempt to decipher which brand of coconut flour possesses the lowest saturated fat, I gathered all the nutritional labels together. I know I'm not a math whiz, but even with conversion tables, something is drastically amiss among the labels. Does anyone have a clue on how I can obtain a true side-by-side comparison? I have one jpg of six labels, but do not know how to upload it to this site. Thanks.
The lowest price I found with FREE shipping is http://www.amazon.com/Lets-Do-Organic-Coconut-16-OuncePouches/dp/B002O1IEII

i always use bob's red mill coconut and almond flours. i've never ever had a problem with them in any recipe, including elana's. i have used honeyville brand in the same recipes i've used bob's red mill almond flour, and both resulted the same!!!

I like Honeyville for Elana's recipes because it's very fine, it's the cheapest blanched almond flour I've found, and has cheap shipping.
But it is very different from Bob's Red Mill, which I like for traditional almond flour recipes like I've listed on my site.
To find out if there really was a difference, I sifted down the two brands and found that they both have the same size particles, but Honeyville has a lot more fine particles, and Bob's has a lot more large particles. I posted pictures on my website that will help you see the huge difference. Here's the page. And I also wrote about why it makes a difference in your recipe.
