As a little girl my mom took me to the Dermatologist many times to try to heal my dry and itchy skin and scalp. Nothing worked that he doctor's prescribed. 40 years later I connected it to my Gluten/Wheat intolerance. A few days off from Gluten/Wheat the itching and dryness began to disappear. When I had my suspicions about my intolerance I was tested by a national lab where my test came back negative with anything connected to Gluten/Wheat issues. The nurse practioner that I was working with suggested I use the genetic and stool test from http://www.enterolab.com. Voila! Not only did I show an intolerance for Gluten/Wheat but I have the hereditary gene. Now, 4 years off Gluten/Wheat my skin is healed and I no longer have to know where bathrooms are located wherever I go, what a freedom!

Suzie, Your post is very interesting because my 13 year old son has similar issues with wheat. Not always gluten because he used to be able to eat spelt bread without any flare ups. My 10 year old daughter gets 'wet' excezma with wheat and dairy. I'ts great to hear you are better now! I'm so grateful to Elana's Pantry for tastey kid friendly recipes.

Thanks so much for your post, Suzie! What great information!! I eat wheat/gluten off and on and keep trying to tell if it is a problem for me. I still do not have a clear answer and have been considering blood or EDS testing and have not known what is the most accurate but checked out the website you mentioned and it looks really professional and high quality. Though expensive, I am highly considering it as an option...

I recently had allergy testing done with an Asyra machine. It is non-invasive, quick, and inexpensive. You might be able to find someone in your area who has one by doing a google search.

I have dry itchy skin, but did not show up with a Gluten/Wheat Intolerance (my children did, hence I am on this site). I did show up with a Yeast Intolerance. I wonder if yeast in my diet could contribute to this dry itchiness. I think our whole family will benefit from using the recipes found on this website.
