I've been trying to determine if rolled oats are always gluten free or do you have to specifically get gluten free rolled oats. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Only if they are labeled Gluten Free. Regular rolled oats are processed, grown, and stored with the same equiplment wheat, rye, barley and other grains are.

you can always use unstabilised oats - they are not steamrolled like traditional oats and therefore not heated treated. They are much creamier!!!

Doesn't matter if they are rolled or not unstabilised or traditional they must be certified gluten free or the person who is gluten intolerant will get sick when they eat them.

  5. You can only be sure oats are gluten free if they are certified gluten free.

But some people are intolerant of oats, gluten free or not, because they contain proteins that are similar to gliadin.

Gliadin is one of the proteins in gluten and is the cause of the intolerance of gluten for Celiacs. For more information, I wrote a page on it: http://www.gluten-free-around-the-world.com/are-oats-gluten-free.html
