Macadamia Nuts
Macadamia nuts grow in tropical and sub-tropical climates such as Hawaii, Australia, Indonesia, South Africa, and Costa Rica. Macadamia nuts are the fattiest of all nuts and they have the highest monounsaturated fat content. Macadamia nuts are low in protein compared to other nuts. It is their high oil content that gives them their rich, buttery taste.
I use macadamia nuts in various forms –try my Cranberry Chocolate Truffles if you are interested in using macadamia nut butter. For other recipes using macadamia nuts, try these Power Bars, or my Macadamia Caramel Clusters. Macadamia nuts are very expensive, and for this reason a somewhat indulgent treat.
