Raisins are little bursts of deliciousness that I like to use in breads, cookies, and granola.

Raisins contain a scant amount of protein and small amount of fiber; they are mostly composed of sugar. Raisins are higher on the glycemic index so it’s best to eat them in moderation if you have concerns about your GI levels or have diabetes.

When shopping for raisins (or any dried fruits for that matter), it is essential to buy organic if you possibly can since dehydrating concentrates any toxins or pesticides present in the fruit skin.
