With March approaching, I’m starting to think about the possibility of a spring detox and one of my favorite healing roots –dandelion. Dandelion is a fantastic liver cleanser and spring is the perfect season for liver support.
According to Ayurveda and Chinese medicine, dandelion root has bitter, sweet and cooling properties, making it optimal for the pitta dosha.

In my opinion nature’s bounty of beautiful, nutritious vegetables is completely underrated. And beets are a perfect example of this. They brighten up any meal with their gorgeous earthy reddish-purple color and are highly nutritious to boot.
We eat beets in my house about once a week (our fave veggies are kale and broccoli, not a day goes by without those brassicas at our table, in fact tonight we’re having both, along with this grilled lemon chicken dish). So, back to ... read more →

You may notice that some of the ingredients in this foot balm, such as coconut oil and olive oil are food. I was taught during my Ayurvedic training, that the skin is the largest organ of absorption in the human body. Therefore, I make sure that anything I put on my skin is healthy enough for me to eat.

The recipe for this gluten free Cinnamon Apple Cake comes from one of my favorite bloggers, AndreAnna “The Primal Matriarch” and her food blog, Life as a Plate. I adapted my version of her recipe, Apple Spice Bread, eliminating the step of pre-cooking the apples, adding a ton of cinnamon, and making a couple other changes as well.

I’m eating one of these Spicy Power Bars as I type this. I’m slightly obsessed with them. Because they remind me of my past.

I confess, I have an addiction to broccoli rabe. I love the bitter flavor of this delicious green vegetable. I have always believed that bitter is such an important, yet under rated flavor in our culture.

For me, diet is a four letter word, I doubt you’ll find it very often on this website. I don’t spend a lot of time discussing gluten free around here either. Warm and healing ginger licorice root tea for colds and adrenal health.
This Ayurvedic recipe for Ginger Licorice Tea is a life saver, or least a throat saver.
