Pick some of the fresh basil that’s exploding in your garden for these zesty grain-free herb-flecked cookies.
I based this recipe (and photo) on one from Bon Appetit for Lemon-Lime Basil Shortbread Cookies. As you might expect, these are gluten-free, grain-free, sugar-free, dairy-free cookies. I used the same flavor profile as the Bon Appetit recipe, though decided not to make mine a shortbread cookie.

A giant stinging nettles bush climbs up the side of the little red barn in my backyard. Although we’ve been in this house for 9 years, it’s taken me half that time to pay any mind to it.

My garden is flourishing and the basil plants are doing particularly well. Hence pesto, gluten free, dairy free, chopping board pesto. A couple of years ago, I saw a recipe in the local paper for a chopping board pesto, and then just the other day, my friend the fabulous Patrick reminded me about making pesto using this method.

This super healthy Asparagus Basil Salad is a not just nutritious, it’s a treat for the palate. Trust me, it’s delectable, especially right now using wonderfully ripe vegetables at peak season. My husband and I guzzled this summer squash salad last night at dinner. We had a massive feast of vegetables and salmon (the boys picked at dinner, though did just fine all in all). Along with the salad, we grilled the salmon, eggplant, red peppers and broccoli. Fresh fruit for dessert –cherries, apricots and strawberries.
