Paleo Breakfast Bread: Video

Posted on March 9, 2012

Paleo Breakfast Bread makes a great grain free treat for brunch or a quick breakfast on rushed weekday mornings.

I made this easy gluten free bread recipe on camera last month (which you can view below) for FOX31 and had a blast with host Joana Canals. I was surprised to find myself on TV talking about the Paleo Diet. It seems that this way of eating is gaining mainstream awareness.

That’s why in addition to sharing this bread recipe with you, I’m ... read more →

This gluten free bread is easy to make, tastes great, and is full of nutrient dense ingredients.

Gluten free isn’t necessarily healthy, especially when it comes to bread.  Here’s a gluten free bread recipe, made of high protein ingredients that won’t leave you dragging.  I’m loving every slice that comes from this new Paleo diet friendly bread recipe.

This bread is just a bit lighter and fluffier than my other breads.  It has a nice nutty flavor from the flax meal which ... read more →

Irish Soda Bread

Posted on March 10, 2011

As a Jew, Irish Soda Bread would not be something that comes naturally to me.  However, over the years, I’ve received numerous requests for a gluten free, dairy free, gum free, high protein Irish Soda Bread.  Well, here you have it.

Given that all things Irish are not my native habitat, I had to do some research to actually figure out what Irish Soda Bread is.  Here’s what Wikipedia had to say about it:

Soda bread are a variety of quick bread ... read more →

I am thrilled to let you all know that I am working with the Almond Board of California to promote healthy and delicious eating.

Why am I doing this?  As you can imagine, I love almonds.  They are a superfood and of course one of my favorite things to nibble on.  I like almonds so much that I wrote an entire book about them.  The Gluten-Free Almond Flour Cookbook uses almonds in all of ... read more →

Cranberry Walnut Bread Revised

Posted on September 24, 2009

After receiving this comment about my gluten free Cranberry Nut Bread from a reader named Caroline I became somewhat concerned about the recipe.  I proceeded to test it several times in response.  First, though, before I share my results with you, here is Caroline’s comment:

Hello – I have just made your cranberry walnut bread using your exact recipe and strangely, my bread turned out very, very dark, as if there was molasses in it.  The batter looked much lighter in ... read more →

Dark “Rye” Bread

Posted on July 24, 2009

As I mentioned the other day, Laura Dolson’s flax bread recipe has been more than inspirational. I have used it as a starting point for many other recipes which you will see here in the days and weeks to come. Today’s recipe is for a dark “rye” bread.  I like to eat this plain or lightly toasted.

Again, I was surprisingly pleased that my tasters enjoyed this bread as much as I did.  It’s very versatile and also works quite nicely for sandwiches.

Flax Focaccia Becomes Parsley Bruschetta

Posted on July 22, 2009

This is the bread recipe that changed my life –well, at least temporarily, in a small way.  As you will see from the bruschetta below and more recipes in the days to come, I have turned this focaccia bread base into several other interesting types of baked goods.

First, however, I  do need to disclose that this focaccia recipe is really not my own.  It is Laura Dolson’s and was pointed out to me by someone in the low carb group ... read more →

Turkey Club Sandwich

Posted on July 8, 2009

Here is one of my favorite sandwiches –the Turkey Club.  It’s a sandwich on Nutty Bread with avocado, mustard and of course, turkey.  It’s hot here, so I’m very happy to make sandwiches for dinner and not have to spark up the oven, stove or grill.

These gluten-free sandwiches are full of protein and tasty to boot.  For me, the avocado makes a great whole food substitute for mayo (I’m not in the mood to make homemade mayo today either, though ... read more →

This hearty, gluten free bread with seeds and nuts is delicious anytime of day.

Toast it for breakfast and serve with a side of scrambled eggs.  Works great along with a big salad at lunch.   Or, for a quick and easy dinner, it makes a great sandwich with organic turkey, avocado, romaine, tomatoes and dijon mustard.

I think this bread would also be delectable as an after dinner treat with a smear of dairy-free butter (I’m very into this Earth ... read more →

I have received many requests for holiday recipes these last few days, so I thought I’d share one of my Thanksgiving favorites –gluten free, dairy free cranberry nut bread.

In the next week or so, I’ll post another one of my favorite cranberry recipes, raw cranberry relish.

I love anything with cranberries.  Tart and super sour, they are also amazingly nutritious.  For this recipe, I use frozen cranberries –you could ... read more →

Simple Bread

Update: Please see my updated Gluten Free Bread recipe!

We spent New Year’s in the mountains and partied a bit too hard with our friends Peter and Patrice. Though I did not drink a drop of alcohol, I somehow ended up with a contact hangover. Everyone around me was imbibing and I must have become intoxicated by association.

As part of my “post holiday” status, I will be baking and sharing recipes that are not dessert until the urge to bake sweets ... read more →
