Nothing like fresh green vegetables to boost your health and happiness –this salad is a great choice any time of year!
Arugula. Cucumbers. Olive Oil. Lemon. Salt. What could be easier?! I like to make this super healthy, yet simple salad for festive meals such as Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur Breakfast or Passover Seder. I also will serve it on a Friday night when we’re having an easy, casual dinner firing up some burgers on the backyard grill.

Beat the summer heat with this refreshingly healthy green drink.
I have a new favorite green juice recipe. Although I’ve never done a full on green juice diet or green juice detox, I think that green juice has major benefits and drink it several days every week. I feel so healthy when I get a big bowl of vegetables into my diet, in liquid form, in addition to the veggies I eat all day long.

The name of this cucumber salad really could be Bubby’s Cucumber Salad. I learned to make it from my father’s mother, an immigrant to this country, and an amazing woman. She helped my Dad’s father run their butcher shop and was quite the business woman from what I can gather.

After last weeks Almond Joy Chocolate Bark post, I received this message on my Facebook Page from Suzanne Hodgman Hodsden:
That’s really nice, but what about some healthy recipes for us health nuts!
Quite a lot of interesting comments followed hers and a good debate was had by all –except me, I just post the recipes and try to stay out of the debates. And furthermore, while I don’t spend a good deal of time on Facebook, I must confess, I ... read more →

Even though summer is coming to a close, I’m still into my green juices and smoothies; more than ever, in fact. This is one of my favorites and I owe credit to Meghan Telpner as it is based on one of the recipes from the Green Cleanse on her site.
I’m running out to the airport with one of these in hand to refresh and revive me on the dash to Denver. Soon I’ll be in NYC doing signings and I ... read more →

You will find this cool and creamy cucumber avocado soup refreshing on a hot summer day. I’ve been drinking it all weekend and experimenting with it along the way.
I tried making it with raw garlic, which did not go down as smoothly as I thought it would, so I eliminated that ingredient. However I did leave in the raw onion as it added a very sharp yet sweet flavor.
According to my first friend in the entire world, Amy Merideth (we ... read more →

We are having friends over tomorrow evening for a small barbecue and I will be serving this easy, delicious, tangy salad dressing over fresh greens from our garden.
We started our garden very early and have planted literally dozens of green veggies in it. The boys are enjoying the many different types of kale that are now growing like weeds. I am particularly fond of the bitter greens –mustard and arugula. My husband loves them all and asks for a bigger ... read more →

The salmon series continues, as does my love affair with Cook’s Illustrated. The recipe below is another one that I have adapted from this fantastic magazine.
On the comments front, my cup overfloweth. I am so happy with the participation, support and community that is developing on this site. Recently, one of my favorite readers, Courtney, asked a question about meal planning. If any of you have suggestions, please feel free to offer them to her in ... read more →

This is one of my favorite healthy fruit and veggie salads for a hot sunny day.
This quick and easy salad recipe is a healthy addition to any gluten free dinner. The unique combination of a vegetable (cucumber) and a fruit (mango) makes a healthy and appetizing salad that appeals to kids and grown ups.
We’ve just come into another burst of warm weather, so I’ve been spending more time on the front porch watching my boys play and of ... read more →
