Kelly Broznya’s dairy-free coffee ice cream is one of my all time favorite treats. Photo by Kelly Broznya.
I’m hooked on Kelly Broznya’s perfect new summer cookbook Dairy Free Ice Cream. Since obtaining a copy last week, I’ve been working my way through this dairy free tome, and I’ve already made eight recipes.
I’m mighty happy with the gluten-free, dairy-free frozen desserts that I’ve tasted from this book. Thus far, the healthy ice cream flavors I’ve indulged in have included : Pistachio, ... read more →

I was thrilled to have the darling Kelly and her adorable family over for dinner during one night of Hanukkah a couple of weeks ago. We made a delicious meal using various recipes from each of our cookbooks and websites, and then had the absolutely scrumptious dessert pictured above: Banana Coconut Cream Pie (made by Kelly, a recipe from her 2nd book) with Sunbutter Ice Cream (made by me, another recipe from Kelly’s awesome 2nd book).
Kelly also brought over some ... read more →

Let us now praise all things pumpkin. I’m kinda obsessed with gluten free, dairy free pumpkin dishes right now, hence the vegan Pumpkin Ice Cream here, and the Pumpkin Bars earlier this week. And let us not forget the Pumpkin Pie Muffins of last year either.
This pumpkin pie ice cream is a delicious fall treat whether served at Halloween or Thanksgiving. For more information on pumpkin mania, check out this funny article from Esquire called Some Pumpkin Flavoring Best Avoided ... read more →

My recipe is based on one from Elise of Simply Recipes –she has a great traditional Mexican Chocolate Ice Cream recipe that uses cream and eggs, which you might like to take a look at.

Yesterday was the last day of school for the boys and their friends and we all celebrated on our porch with these fun and festive cupcakes. Super easy to make and even easier to eat, the boys made a big mess –their faces were covered in yummy deliciousness in the mid day heat. Then they ran around to our back yard, turned on the sprinkler and jumped on our trampoline. What a great afternoon!

Peaches are in high season here in Colorado and we are making the most of it. This week I made a gluten free (of course), fruit sweetened, dairy free, vegan Peach Almond Ice Cream.
To increase the peach factor, I diced up more fresh peaches and mooshed them into the ice cream after it came out of the ice cream maker.
This is another recipe that is a bit more complicated than most, however, I found it to be well worth the ... read more →

The catalyst for this naturally sweetened, vegan, gluten free ice cream (don’t be scared by all the descriptors) is a recipe from Karina’s Kitchen for Maple Roasted Banana Ice Cream. Thanks Karina, your creativity, spunk and inspiration continue to be contagious!
This ice cream is not the easiest to make, given that there are a couple of steps involved, however it’s mighty tasty and my children love it –we hid it from my husband because we wanted more for the 3 ... read more →

My boys love this vegan Strawberry Ice “Cream.” I made a batch and it was gone in a couple of hours. So I made more and my husband got in on the act, consuming his share.
It is made with a coconut milk base and I added quite a bit of vanilla, in hopes of drowning out the coconutty flavor, as I did not want to make a coconut ice cream. I think I succeeded, though you all can be the ... read more →

Purely Decadent’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl Ice Cream
This is my family’s favorite ice cream. I’d have to say they like it quite a bit more than my homemade Vegan Vanilla Ice Cream.
When I posted that recipe last week, several people asked if I had heard of various brands of store bought vegan, gluten free ice creams. Yes, I have and here it is. Purely Decadent comes in quite a few flavors and I can attest that each one I have ... read more →

This is my favorite ice cream. It’s vegan. It’s vanilla. And it’s yummy.
I’ve been making this ice cream for the last couple of years. Way back when in my New York days, my raw food friends turned me on to the fact that cashews make an amazing substitute for dairy. While I love this ice cream and have been known to chow on it late night, be forewarned that my husband (who is my ultimate taste tester) does not like it.
