This new and improved gluten free Peach Crisp was a lot of fun to shoot and even more fun to eat. I’m loving (rather than dreading) taking pictures ever since I took the Food and Light Photography Workshop.

Peaches are in high season here in Colorado and we are making the most of it. This week I made a gluten free (of course), fruit sweetened, dairy free, vegan Peach Almond Ice Cream.
To increase the peach factor, I diced up more fresh peaches and mooshed them into the ice cream after it came out of the ice cream maker.

Here’s a recipe round-up for a healthy high protein, gluten free Mother’s Day brunch. This is a brunch menu that won’t leave you with the dreaded brunch bloat and hangover afterwords.
I haven’t figured out what we’ll be doing for Mother’s Day yet, though I do know that we don’t have any baseball games scheduled so it will be a nice and hopefully fairly lazy day. Maybe the four of us will take a walk down by the creek.

The 8th graders at Shining Mountain Waldorf School held a huge peach sale this week and we participated by ordering two cases. Today, the boys and I picked up 40 pounds of luscious local Colorado peaches after dismissal. Hands and faces sticky with juice, the boys dug in before we made it to the car.

The boys’ school is selling organic peaches. I ordered two cases (about 40 lbs.) for my family; we will be getting our luscious Colorado fruit this Friday at 3 pm.

Fall is a full time of year; especially for a Jewish family with children in a Waldorf school. Last week we celebrated Rosh Hashannah (Jewish New Year), yesterday was Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) and this coming Friday is Succot, the fall harvest festival celebrating the bounty provided to the Jews during 40 years wandering the dessert after the Exodus from Egypt.
